CASA DE ELIZABETH ORPHANAGE, IMURIS, SONORA
Located 40 miles south of Nogales, Sonora, Casa de Elizabeth (CDE) is a non-denominational Christian orphanage providing a loving up-bringing for over 100 young orphans. Directors Manuel and Gaby have dedicated their lives to providing a safe up-bringing with a Christian moral foundation for many children who would otherwise fall victim to the temptations of life on the street in Mexico-crime, theft, drug running, prostitution.
CDE provides their children with a safe and nurturing up-bringing to prepare them for a healthy adult life. Schooling is provided on-site, with separate school buildings currently under construction. The children also receive instruction in basic agriculture, including maintaining a green house and a chicken coop, the products of which go directly into the orphanage kitchen. And training is basic trade (i.e. laying brick, construction, wood-working) is in development.
THE NEED
The needs of CDE range from day to day. On more than one occasion, Manuel has contacted Proyecto Compasión stating that the orphanage is completely out of food, other times they're delinquent on utility payments and phone or heat has been turned off, and the orphanage facilities are constantly in need of repair. Proyecto Compasión fulfills general needs with consistent monthly support to Casa de Elizabeth, and often specific emergency needs on an as-needed basis. A list of orphanage needs can be found on the CDE website at casadeelizabeth.org. Your contribution can be made to the Proyecto Compasión General Fund, to the CDE General Fund, or towards a specific project at CDE. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible.
SPONSORSHIPS
Proyecto Compasión also serves as a channel to collect funds for CDE's Sponsorship Program. For information about how you can sponsor an orphan at CDE, visit casadeelizabeth.org.
