COMPASSION BANK

Easy to cut out and assemble, the Compassion Bank provides an opportunity for church families, groups, and congregations to get together and talk about the love of Christ and what it means to give.

The bank comes flat in the shape of a cross with devotional topics to discuss while you're cutting. After it's assembled, it serves as a continuous reminder of the need of our children in Mexico, and a collection tool for your loose change or daily offering.

PRODUCTION. Circles of Compassion leaders are encouraged to download the file and take it to their favorite copy shop (i.e. Kinko's, CopyMax, etc.). The file should be printed on their black and white copiers at 100% on 11x17 white cover (or card) stock. Run enough for your Circle or church congregation plus a few extras.

DISCUSSION. For our small Circles, take an opportunity to assemble and discuss the banks during one of your meetings, and set a collection date several weeks later. If the bank is being used in a church offering, discussion can be a valuable family activity at home.

Put any spare change, plus a daily offering if you choose, into the bank whenever you see an opportunity; empty the console in your car, look under the couch cushions, sweep under the fridge, check by the dryer. Collect the banks on the pre-determined collection date, tally the total, and cut a check for Proyecto Compasión for the amount. For congregational excersises, it can be an especially moving event to have the children of the congregation bring the banks up to the alter in an orderly fashion.
